Forestville Opens With A Welcome To Country Ceremony
Our brand new Forestville facility has just opened in Sydney and we were honoured with a Welcome To Country and Smoking Ceremony by Brendan Kerin from the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council.
Allowing us to pay respect to the traditional custodians of the land on which our facility sits, the Darug People, Brendan performed a Smoking Ceremony, which historically is used for a variety of reasons — including to ward off bad spirits, or in some cases to cleanse the spirit and welcome people.
In this case, having Brendan ‘smoke’ the premises means we are asking for good fortune and for our people and clients to be safe when they are on the premises.
Our thanks go to Brendan for performing the ceremony for our new Forestville facility — we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land and pay respect to elders past, present and emerging.
