A day of high drama at the Wilson Security Sandown 500
The Pepsi Max Falcons have continued their dominance at the Wilson Security Sandown 500, as the teammates fight for the 2016 V8 Supercars Championship lead.
Mark Winterbottom (paired with Steve Owen) extended his lead in the championship by taking the chequered flag while teammate Chaz Mostert continued his recent good form finishing second with co-driver Cameron Waters.
The win is Winterbottom’s first at Sandown since 2006, which was also his first ever race victory.
“That’s awesome!” Winterbottom said after the race.
David Wall and Chris Pither finished 21st in the Wilson Storage #34 Volvo, dropping a total of three spots from their qualifying position. Wilson Storage also supported Glen Wood and Elliott Barbour who drove the Wilson Storage Lamborghini, starting from position 17 with a finish on the podium in 3rd.
